This 6,000 sqm office building reinterprets the historic “Char-Taghi” concept — a central architectural element in Iran’s traditional design — through a contemporary lens.
The building’s brick and concrete envelope grounds it within Ahwaz’s architectural context, while climatic features such as deep overhangs and shaded layers respond to the city’s hot desert climate.
A public plaza on the first floor adds urban value, transforming a private institutional building into a civic space for gathering and interaction.
At North + South Architects, we continue this approach in Toronto, connecting context, climate, and culture to shape meaningful urban spaces.
