Located on the Mazandaran University campus, this 3,500 sqm research facility was designed to connect form, climate, and community.
Inspired by Le Corbusier’s modernist principles and the raw honesty of brutalism, the design introduces voids for natural ventilation and light — allowing the building to breathe with its humid northern climate.
The elevated public first floor creates a shaded plaza, inviting students to gather and engage, turning a research facility into a social hub.
At North + South Architects, we continue this approach in Toronto — designing buildings that are responsive, climatic, and human-centered, where architecture becomes a living part of the city.
