Rooted in the architectural traditions of Guilan, this project explores the integration of natural ventilation strategies and open public circulation within a contemporary architectural framework. The design introduces a series of public routes that traverse the building, blurring the boundaries between private and communal spaces while fostering urban interaction.
The structural system is conceived as a composition of reinforced concrete walls that simultaneously define form and function, creating a monolithic yet porous mass. The interplay of concrete, wood, and glass generates a tactile dialogue between permanence, warmth, and transparency — a reflection of the local material sensibility reinterpreted through a modern lens.
A rooftop pedestrian and running path extends the public domain vertically, transforming the roofscape into an active urban layer.
At North + South Architects, we continue to bring this contextual, environmentally responsive, and spatially connective approach to the city of Toronto, reimagining how architecture can engage both people and place.
